Holding out for a Hero

Maybe only those of us whose musical memories were formed in the 1980s will remember the Bonnie Tyler song “Holding out for a hero”. Originally it was the soundtrack to the film Footloose, but has been covered many times since then. Us oldies can still remember just about all the words …

“I need a hero

I’m holding out for a hero ’til the end of the night

He’s gotta be strong

And he’s gotta be fast

And he’s gotta be fresh from the fight

I need a hero

I’m holding out for a hero ’til the morning light”

Well, now Twilight has its very own Hero. Yes, Twilight has a new man in town! Time to meet Hero, a 10 year old hound abandoned at a refuge, the grimmest of ears, a grim set of lungs and 11 kilos under weight.

Bless, firstly, Association Les Amis who whisked him to a foster home. Then, as a birthday pressie to our Spencer, we agreed with Les Amis, if he survived, as he was very poorly and low, we would be happy to take him. So, this handsome chappie has joined the Twilight Pudding Pack. He comes with his full bits and pieces of tackle, as he’s not strong enough for surgery, but he is gentle by nature, so we shall not worry about that for now.

Three sets of humans and cars took him on his long journey, and we thank them all, with a special hug to our own Terry for the last leg. Hero made himself at home straight away, as you can see. These first photos were taken just a few hours after his arrival, meeting his new family, checking out the garden and house. And then it was time for supper and big sleeps.

Hero settled down straight away to Twilight life, and we have begun the task of building up his strength, with three lovely meals a day, including some yummy salmon, chicken and cheese to tempt his appetite. Only a few short weeks later in these photos, he’s looking brilliant and already one of the family. Isn’t it incredible that the others aren’t worried he is having an extra meal – they all love him. And he really loves his salmon and trout in with his meal. We love you already handsome, you are most very welcome. What a Hero indeed xxx
