The Twilight Tinies

The Twilight Puddings come in all shapes and sizes, from the big hunk that is Bear, to our current tiniest pudding Appy. Who can deny the cuteness of a tiny dog? But, often their small size hides a big heart and an even bigger personality. Over the years we’ve cared for many little characters at Twilight, from the feisty Peggy Sue who found a special place in daddy Twilight’s heart, to little Yorkie Vanille, who was mummy Twilight’s special girl. And, it’s not surprising that many of our tinies find their way to a lovely outreach home, like dear little Norman, who is living with Rowena and her family, Holly the tiny poodle living with Carol, and sweet little Vanae.

The current Twilight tiny crew comprises Nounie, Appy and Cannelle, all little white dogs who can be hard to tell apart, and new recruit Roo.

Who’s who?

Nounie

Nounie

Little Nounie has been with us since November 2018. He’s a very special oldie, blind, deaf, thyroid troubles, skin trouble and came with a story never to be told, as a tricky situation. We are thankful to those who found him a home here. He settled instantly, if a little quieter than the starlet that is Miss Appy. Dear little Nounie is a cuddle pot. He arrived and settled to his routine; found a bed, gets out of bed, goes to the clean sheets, has a pee and goes back to bed again, bless him. He enjoys breakfast and dinner, has learnt (being blind) the route of the Twilight home, but because he is so content just being snug, well fed and loved he doesn’t ask for much. He is not seen in photos as often as the others as he prefers a special bed in a quiet area; nothing wrong in that. He does look such a handsome lad after a wash and brush up though!

Appy & Cannelle

These two little treasures joined Team Twilight in June 2019 and instantly won the hearts of many supporters. Due to their family circumstances they came with nothing, sad refugees of divorce and no money. Cannelle is the mum, 12 years old, and a shitzu (probably). She’s the curly one. ‘Appy, is her 9 year old daughter. She’s longer haired and definitely a chihuahua cross with that nose (and personality!) Both had lived all their lives with their former family.

Appy & Cannelle

When they arrived their eyes were a real sticky mess, and they had hair … yes, lots of it. After our Auntie Gloria worked her grooming magic they were soon looking like film stars, and little Appy certainly is one for the camera. Such is the resilience of puddings they soon settled to Twilight life. Appy quickly learnt that daddy sits a lot and cuddles are pretty much 24/7; it’s her favourite spot. Dear Appy and Cannelle, they eat, they wag those tiny, tiny tails. They are home and happy.

Roo

Our newest recruit to the tiny squad is darling little Roo. At eighteen months old little Roo is a paraplegic due to a car accident in Bordeaux. Chihuahua mix, probably! Thanks to the lovely Danielle, he was put into a foster to see if he could grow strong and rehab. They did wonders with him. He has done very well, still with one small open wound that needs a daily dressing on his leg. He is incontinent, so tiny nappies are the order of the day when cuddling daddy and for rest time.

Roo

His small stature belies a huge personality. Roo truly believes he is invincible. He scoots around the house and garden on his wheels, plays with all his doggy friends and is growing in strength and confidence. Little Roo has his own Facebook page, which he shares with Rock and Nala – check it out for some great videos of Roo on his wheels and playing with his latest love, little Appy.

Roo loves his wheels and is very capable on them. In future, we are going to buy him some leg braces and we will do a spinal X-ray soon. The way he turns his toes would suggest spinal damage, but we are seeing him grow in strength, and he is determined. Roll on summer as Roo will love the rehab pool, which we need to replace this year.
