There is something about the first of the month … up as usual, Ben stirring at the end of my bed, Bear ball in mouth and tail wagging hard …. Open up those doors mum, we need a wee!
Of course most have had a wee already and a no. 2 … so that is my first job, clear the first stage clean up and give everyone a hug and quick glance. Always grateful when all are alive and counted for.
Fire next, and then they leave me be to have a coffee and commune a little on the old iPad before breakfast.
I am so blessed. To have so many old and disabled puds isnt always easy. Dressings to be changed when you would like to sit with a book, thé full house clean, thé bark for more water please mum …just as you sit down for lunch. But you know, they give you so much unconditional love. They are so grateful, they give you tenfold of anything you might do for them. They might not live long with you, they will certainly break your heart. But ….trust me, it is worth it. For you, and Ofcourse for them to have such a loving home in their latter days. Be sure to encourage your friends to adopt from refuges. Take yourselves à little out of your comfort zone …. It’s like winning the lottery of love.
